Agile Methodology

Scrum is the most common agile framework (and the one most people start with – it is used by 58% of organizations that have embraced Agile according to VersionOne 2017 report). Scrum takes a highly iterative approach that focuses on defining key features and objectives prior to each sprint. Scrum is a team-based approach that using the concept of “backlog” to provide the team’s workload. However in Scrum there is NO concept of “project”, and this is why complex organizations using Scrum need also a corporate-strength Agile approach.

AgilePM (Agile Project Management) is the result of the collaboration between APMG International and The DSDM Consortium. DSDM (Dynamic Systems Development method) is the longest-established Agile methodology, launched in 1995, and it is THE ONLY Agile method to focus on the management of Agile projects. AgilePM achieves an ideal balance between the standards, rigour and visibility required for good project management, and the fast-pace, change and teams empowerment provided by Agile approaches.

PRINCE2 Agile blends the flexibility of agile, with the governance of PRINCE2, a broad understanding of all of the key agile concepts and how these blend seamlessly into the PRINCE2 methodology. It is an extension module tailored for organizations and individuals already implementing PRINCE2 and provides further guidance on how to apply agile methods within organizations that know and use PRINCE2 standards. The PRINCE2 Agile framework covers a wide range of agile concepts, including SCRUM, Kanban and Lean Startup. As much as AgilePM, PRINCE2 Agile is a project-centered method.
